Sophia Paul and Julio César Calderón met during the tango world championshop 2016 in Buenos Aires, while they danced at the same tier in the semi finals. They started working together in January 2017. They belong to a new generation of dancers, that dedicate them-self to tango full time. In their developement as a dance couples they are supported by great maestros as Roberto Canelo, Mario Morales, and Fernando Galera.
Currently they work as dancers and teachers in different countries as Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, and Germany. Together they performed in various milongas and danced show in important milongas like Salón Canning, La Baldosa, La Nacional, and Cachirulo.

Sophia Paul discovered the tango when she was 17 years old in Berlin. Shortly after she moved for a year to Buenos Aires to discover the tango at it’s roots. There she had the possibility to learn from the best teachers and dive deeper into the culture of tango. During the following years she had the possibility to travel several times to Buenos Aires and spend a few months there each. She developed her dancing with Mario Morales, Sabrina and Ruben Veliz, Fernando Galera, and others.
In Berlin she taught at some of the biggest tango schools, like Mala Junta, at Frannz Club in the Kulturbrauerei, and at the milonga “El Ocaso”. In addition to performing at various milongas, she performed during the Embrace Berlin Tango Festival 2016 and at the Berliner Philharmonie.
In 2016 she won the UK Tango championship in the category Tango de pista, which are part of the official preliminaries of the tango world championship.
During her stay and participation of the tango world championship 2016 in Buenos Aires, she met Julio and started to work with him in January 2017.

Julio César Calderón discovered tango when he was 17. His parents obliged him to accompany his little sister to tango lessions. At that moment he could not believe how much the tango would influence his life.
During his training as a dancer he took classes with great maestros as Valeria Eguía and Roberto Canelo, Alejandra Armenti and Daniel Juárez, as well as Noelia Coletti and Pablo Giorgini.
In 2010 he started an apprenticeship as a tango teacher at the “Canelo Tango Estudio” where he taught until the end of 2017. Additionally he taught tango, milonga and vals at various places as “Fundación Tango Argentino”, “Escuela de Tango de Flores” and the milonga “Obelisco Tango”.
During his dancing career he did numerous performances in the most prestigious milongas of Buenos Aires. In 2016 he reached the Semi-Final of the “Campeonato de Baile de la Ciudad” in the categories tango and milonga.
In the same year he danced at the final of the world championship in the category “Tango de pista”, where the top 40 couples perform. Here he placed 30th out of the over 500 couples in the competition. The final took place in the well known location “Luna Park”. At that world championship he met Sophia. They work together since 2017.
