Sophia Paul discovered the tango when she was 17 years old in Berlin. Shortly after she moved for a year to Buenos Aires to discover the tango at it’s roots. There she had the possibility to learn from the best teachers and dive deeper into the culture of tango. During the following years she had the possibility to travel several times to Buenos Aires and spend a few months there each. She developed her dancing with Mario Morales, Sabrina and Ruben Veliz, Fernando Galera, and others.
In Berlin she taught at some of the biggest tango schools, like Mala Junta, at Frannz Club in the Kulturbrauerei, and at the milonga “El Ocaso”. In addition to performing at various milongas, she performed during the Embrace Berlin Tango Festival 2016 and at the Berliner Philharmonie.
In 2016 she won the UK Tango championship in the category Tango de pista, which are part of the official preliminaries of the tango world championship.
During her stay and participation of the tango world championship 2016 in Buenos Aires, she met Julio César Calderón and started to work with him in January 2017.
