Tango Cherries – Danube Tango Marathon Summer Edition 2015, Budapest
“Some like it hot”! or: Bikramtango some friends called it 🙂
Arriving friday afternoon, we had the pleasure to dance and chill at palatinus beach, a big public beach and baths on famous margerete island. One of the best ways you can spend a sunny friday afternoon I’d say! A DJ, nice tandas at the pool and inside the pool, some curious spectators, lángos, kukorica, beer, and the friends made it a relaxed and funny afternoon.
Imagine budapest with 38 degrees, and dancing in a location without aircon -yeah, it has been a very sweaty thing, but a nice one.
Under such conditions especially leaders seemed to dance less than usual, since they needed more time to dry in between dances, resp. to change shirts, and cool down. So sometimes I have seen many followers waiting, even though the event has been almost role balanced. Tough luck, somehow.
We have been dancing at the same place like in the winter edition (bakelit multi art centre, see some previous tango cherries entries), but in another hall with an extra swinging wooden dance floor. Good sound system, beautiful lights, chairs and couches, plenty of water have been provided. Palinka at the bar, and excellent coffee on ice cubes made it really nice.
Level of dance has been intermediate to high, and accommodation has been organized either in the hostel right on the spot, or in a hotel with free shuttle service at defined hours. In many details one could feel the warm hearts of the organizers, they care a lot, are always available for questions and help, and even find the time to dance with their guests.
For the next edition I just recommend to bring plenty of shirts 🙂
